On Tuesday, May 11, at approximately 2 p.m., an Arlington Police officer was monitoring traffic in the area of Mass Ave and Pleasant Street. The officer observed a Ford Escape allegedly commit a crosswalk violation, traveling through the crosswalk as a woman and child were attempting to cross.
The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver allegedly refused to stop and led the officer on a brief pursuit before turning onto Swan Place and reaching a dead end. Officers conducted a felony stop of the vehicle. The driver and a passenger were ordered to exit the vehicle and were each detained without further incident.
It was determined that the vehicle belonged to a car-sharing company. During an inventory of the vehicle officers located a loaded firearm with a high capacity magazine under the driver’s seat. During this search officers also recovered a bag of marijuana and a digital scale.
The JUVENILE driver was placed under arrest. The passenger was released from the scene and was not charged.
The JUVENILE was transported from the Arlington Police Department to an overnight holding facility where he is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday morning.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
