Chief Julie Flaherty is pleased to announce that members of the Arlington Police Department are taking part in No Shave November for the fifth consecutive year to support the fight against cancer by raising awareness and funds for a valuable and benevolent foundation.
Through the campaign, members of the department may forgo facial hair restrictions during November by donating or raising $100. All funds raised will go toward the Dan Kelly Foundation.
The foundation was established in honor of retired Lt. Dan Kelly, who fought cancer for several years. He passed away at the age of 58 in May of last year. The Dan Kelly Foundation, referred to as DK4, provides athletic opportunities for children of all ages, in honor of a man who loved sports and believed it was important that every child have the chance to be an athlete.
The department has set a fundraising goal of $5,000.
